Question:

Trying to find a brake controller for our 2026 jayco greyhawk. It is on a ford e450 chassis. We are also looking for a front receiver hitch for the same vehicle. Is there anyone who could please help us?

Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!

For a brake controller on your 2026 Jayco Greyhawk, I would actually go with the Redarc Tow-Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller # RED57AR over the Curt Echo # C51180. The Redarc installs at the rear behind the 7-way and gives you proportional braking without having to mount a traditional brake controller inside the cab. You can control it with the included Bluetooth remote or the Redarc app, and it can handle trailers with up to 4 axles. The main reason why I am saying this one is that I have not heard of any issues with the app, I cannot say the same for the Curt.

This is also a nice option on a motorhome because you don't have the Curt Echo plugged in between the motorhome's 7-way and your trailer connector. The Redarc stays installed behind the 7-way, so once it's installed you can pretty much leave it alone.

Unfortunately, I also checked on the front receiver hitch for you, and at this time I am not finding a front hitch that the manufacturers have confirmed to fit the 2026 Ford E-450 chassis. I don't want to recommend an older E-450 hitch without a confirmed fit for your 2026.

What are you planning on towing behind the Greyhawk, and what were you hoping to carry on the front hitch? Maybe we have a different option for you.

We are carrying a large enclosed trailer. We were hoping to do a regular wired in controller since we have heard some negative reviews about the bluetooth ones staying connected and occasionally locking the brakes. We aren't going to be putting anything on the front hitch we just want to have a location to attach a chain or rope in the event we ever needed to pulled out of a field. Our son races dirt bikes so we are often dry camping in the middle of nowhere and the events are rain or shine.

@KathrynL I don't blame you for wanting to hardwire a brake controller; I would personally do the same. The Redarc Bluetooth option is better than the Curt in my opinion, but hardwired is still the way I'd go. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. This is my #1 go-to recommendation, and I deal with a lot of brake controller troubleshooting but rarely with this one! About the only issue I see is people testing it incorrectly. Since it's proportional, if you're sitting still you'll need to use the manual override to test the trailer brakes rather than the brake pedal. When you're actually driving and braking, the controller senses the deceleration and applies the trailer brakes proportionally. For the front of the E-450, since you just want a place to attach a recovery strap if you get stuck, you don't really need a winch or front hitch. What you need is a properly rated recovery point attached directly to the frame. I wouldn't attach a chain or strap to the bumper, suspension, or another convenient point underneath since those aren't designed for recovery loads. Unfortunately, we don't have a custom-fit front recovery point for the E-450. I would have a local fabrication shop add a rated recovery point directly to the frame. With you regularly camping in fields for rain-or-shine dirt bike events, I think that's definitely worth having before you need it!
