Recommended Yakima Towers and Fit Kit for Reusing Round Bars on a 2022 Acura MDX w/ Factory Rails

Updated 08/13/2026 | Published 08/09/2026

Question:

Greetings Mates... I just purchased a 2022 Acura MDX AWD for my wife to replace her 2011 that currently has 215K miles...a beautiful machine but getting long in tooth for her endeavors. She is 67 and an avid slack water kayaker. We utilize your old school Yakama round bar system that clamps to the roof racks thru a space. My wife prefers the saddles for kayaks that attach to a round bar for sliding the kayaks end to end. Our dilemma is that the 2022 has solid roof racks with no space to run the rubber clamping system thru. Does your company sell a product that can clamp to the OEM racks, but can also accommodate the round pipes that we need for attaching the saddle. We would prefer not to change out the current roof rack channels, since purchasing the vehicle has stretched us out financially. I would appreciate any feedback your tech team can provide. Mahalo Mates...

We sure do Larry and congrats on your new SUV! Since your 2022 Acura MDX has the factory flush rails you'll need the following parts to attach your Yakima round bars and kayak saddles:

SightClip Fit Kit for Yakima SightLine Roof Rack Towers item # Y49AR

SightLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars item # Y64AR

RoundBar SL Adapter item # Y03536 - This one you may not need. If your old school Yakama round bar system used BaseLine Towers you can reuse your existing round bar adapters.

If you have any part numbers off of your existing Yakima roof rack mounting components, I'd be happy to look them up and verify if they're reusable.

What kind of kayaks do you have and where do you like to us them?

You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.
