I was wondering if you could provide more detail as to why C11422, VW golf sportwagen / alltrack, is not listed as compatible with same generation egolf?

Hey Neal. Volkswagen stated not to install a hitch on the 2016 and 2017 e-Golf's and said they would void owner's warranty claims if they installed one. The hitch manufacturer's listed them as not fitting after that and our website followed.

Even with the larger batteries on the 2017 models, the Curt Hitch item # C11422 and EcoHitch item # 306-X7309 still fit just fine. There's reviews on our website and posts on forums all over that confirm these hitches fit. VW didn't change the geometry in the rear end of the Golf's so they all used the same bumper bar. Those hitches just replace it.

For a 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf, I recommend the EcoHitch Hitch item # 306-X7309. This hitch has the larger 2" receiver so it'll provide you with more options for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. This is important if you're hauling e-bikes because the options get pretty slim on ones that fit 1-1/4" hitches like the Curt item # C11422.
