Replacing a Carrier RV A/C With Heat Pump on a 2010 Holiday Rambler

Updated 08/07/2026 | Published 08/05/2026

Question:

Hello, i have a 2010 holiday rambler with a carrier air V AC/Heat pump. This unit has a remote that controls it plus turns on the furnace. Do you have a system that can replace the carrier unit but continue to use the remote and electronics? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

Hi Jeremy, sadly there isn’t a new rooftop A/C that will let you keep the original Carrier remote and electronics in your 2010 Holiday Rambler. RV A/C manufacturers have been transitioning away from the older R410A refrigerant systems to newer R32 systems, and with your Carrier already being an older setup, the new A/C units and controls just aren’t designed to work with those original Carrier electronics. At this point, you’re really looking at replacing the A/C and its controls together rather than trying to piece the old and new systems together.

I know that’s a bummer, especially since your Carrier remote conveniently handles the A/C, heat pump, and furnace all in one place. If it were my Holiday Rambler, I’d go with the Furrion Chill Cube with Heat Pump. For a non ducted system, I’d use part # FR87TQ, and for a ducted system, part # FR97TQ. You’ll still have the heat pump you’re used to, plus the variable speed compressor should give you quieter operation and a more comfortable, steady temperature compared to the Carrier. It comes with its own remote, so you’ll have an updated system all designed to work together.

The furnace is the one piece we’ll need to handle separately since the new Furrion remote won’t take over that Carrier furnace control. We’d need to confirm which furnace you have before recommending the right way to control it. Is your current Carrier A/C ducted through ceiling vents, or does the air come directly out underneath the unit?
