Best RV AC Replacement for a Coleman Mach 8 on a 2016 American Coach Revolution

Updated 08/05/2026 | Published 08/02/2026

Question:

Hello, I am looking at replacing my rooftop ac/heat pump coleman ducted units on a 2016 american coach revolution. Was wondering which unit would be the better swap a Coleman mach 8 or a furion unit. How compatible is the wiring to the original, and will they both work with my wall thermostat that controls 3 units ? My thermostat is a micro air easy touch, which works fine with my Coleman, not sure if it would still work for the fusion. Thats why I am tossed between the two different units Coleman, or furion?

Hi Larry, I can definitely understand why you're weighing your options. Since your coach has the older Coleman Mach 8 system, we unfortunately don't carry a direct Coleman replacement that will work with your current components. That's largely because the RV industry has transitioned from R410A refrigerant to the newer R32 refrigerant, so compatible replacement parts for the older systems are becoming harder to find.

If you'd like to keep your existing wiring, the closest replacement is the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup, 15,000 Btu, Black, part # FR32PV. It includes a 9 pin to 6 pin adapter, so it works with your existing Coleman wiring without having to rewire the coach. The downside is that it doesn't include a heat pump, and it isn't compatible with your current Micro Air EasyTouch thermostat. You would need to switch to a Micro Air thermostat that's designed to work with the Furrion system.

Personally, if it were my coach and the budget allowed, I'd replace all three units with the Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC with Heat Pump and Air Distribution Box, 18,000 Btu, Ducted, R32, part # FR97TQ. I really like the variable speed compressor because it's more energy efficient, runs quieter than traditional RV air conditioners, and it includes a heat pump. In my opinion, it's one of the most modern and capable RV air conditioning systems available right now, and it sets you up with the current R32 platform instead of investing more money into an older R410A system.

Are you planning to replace all three rooftop units at once, or are you trying to get one failed unit back up and running for now?
