Air Springs for 2012 Ford F150 Platinum

Updated 08/07/2026 | Published 08/01/2026

Question:

I am looking for an Air Lift rear spring assist for my 2012 F150, 3.6, 5.5 bed Platinum with towing/braking package. Will be towing aluminum open bed car trailer with 1958 Chevy 3600 4x4. I am not a person that tows that often, but when I do I want it to be right. I will install myself with help of a friend. Can you suggest a system that will be great for me?

Thanks for letting us help Milt. For your 2012 Ford F-150, I'd recommend the Air Lift # AL88200. This kit includes vehicle-specific mounting brackets and all of the necessary installation hardware, allowing it to install without any drilling. The # AL88200 also features Air Lift's integrated jounce bumpers, which provide an added level of support and protection should the air pressure ever become too low.

The # AL25854 compressor you were looking at is an excellent addition. It lets you adjust the air pressure from inside the cab, making it easy to level your truck for varying loads while also allowing you to continuously monitor the air spring pressure.

Are you hauling the ’58 to shows? How often are you going to be pulling it?

I use the 5000 ultimate. On a Ram 1500. Easy to install and handles the load well. I am pulling 31’ camper. I bought the kit with compressor and i love it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks jimmy

@Jimmy Happy to hear your enjoying the air bags! Out of curiosity, how do you feel about the ride quality with the air bags when your not towing?

@ChristopherH When running without a load, i keep the air set at 10psi and i don’t know they are under there. Maybe a little lift on height but still a good ride.
