L-Track Mounting Solution for an Exterior Shower on a Scout Kenai Truck Camper

Updated 07/30/2026 | Published 07/25/2026

Question:

Hi, We have a Scout Kenai slide in truck camper. Wed like to install some type of L track or other type on the OUTSIDE of the camper to attach a shower to, maybe other stuff. The shower cube would be permanently attached so the track/grid/whatever needs to be strong. What does eTrailer have that would work? Thanks, Denise

Hi Denise! That sounds like a fun project. If you're looking for a strong, versatile mounting point on the outside of your Scout Kenai, you need the Tow-Rax L-Track, part # TWSP24TA. It's an aluminum L-track that's commonly used to secure all kinds of gear, and I've seen quite a few DIY camper builds.

The one thing I'd pay the most attention to is how the shower cube mounts. Before I confidently recommend it for your shower, can you tell me a little more about how your Shower Cube attaches? Some versions use their own dedicated mounting brackets while others are adapted to different mounting systems. Knowing how yours mounts will help me make sure the L-track is the right solution instead of steering you toward something that won't work.

While we're at it, what other gear are you hoping to mount on the outside of your Scout Kenai? If you're planning to hang things like water jugs, recovery boards, or tools too, we can make sure the setup works well for all of it.

We would need three pieces of 12" L Track. The hardware that came with the shower cube is meant to attach the shower to a luggage rack. It won't work for L Track. The application of the L Track to the side of the camper would require holes being drilled through the camper wall - each piece of L Track would be installed vertically. There would need to be backing plates for each piece of L Track, or each bolt used for the L Track. In order to attach the shower stall to the L Track holes would have to be drilled in the Kakadu Shower mount plate, and whatever hardware is used for the L Track system attached to the shower. The goal is to keep the shower as close as possible to the camper wall - not sticking out (it will be on the drivers side and experience a lot of wind and turbulence.) So, in summary, there would be three pieces of vertical 12" L Track attached to the outside camper wall. Approximately 13" to 14" apart. Absolutely must have plates on the inside wall to support the L Track. Some type of L Track hardware that can be applied to the shower cube bracket. Once the shower is attached to the camper it will not be removed. It has to be sturdy. And as close to the camper as possible. We are not planning on attaching anything else to the L Track. The shower cube weighs 16 lbs. Hope this makes sense.
