Question:

I am looking for a hitch reciever that I can add to the rear of a 2027 coleman 17b travel trailer. I was looking to hopefully be able to put 700lbs of cargo on the carrier/reciever

Hey Jared, congrats on the new travel trailer! To add a hitch to your 2027 Coleman 17b, I recommend the Curt item # C13704. This universal hitch is designed to fit frames up to 66" wide and can be welded or bolted on with the included hardware. It attaches directly to the bottom of the frame. The top of the 2" receiver will sit 2" below the bottom of the frame.

The Curt Universal Hitch item # C13704 is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. This is the highest rated hitch available and it tops out at 500 lbs of tongue weight. I don't have one that's going to support 700 lbs. That much weight at the back of a travel trailer is also going to add quite a bit of sway.

I attached a couple of pictures below so you can see what it looks like installed.

What kind of gear do you plan on putting in the cargo carrier?
