Question:

Hi, is there a difference between Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - Dash Knob - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional Part Number: RED98CR and Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - Dash Knob - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional Part Number: RED82CR ? I do not see any noticeable differences between the two.

Hey Nay! The difference between the Redarc item # RED98CR and the Redarc item # RED82CR is that the item # RED82CR comes with three different options for mounting brackets.

Both the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller item # RED98CR and item # RED82CR come with the brake controller and a custom fit wiring harness that connects to the factory port on your 2016 Toyota 4Runner. This port is located above the emergency brake pedal. It'll give you a simple plug in installation.

For your 2016 Toyota 4Runner, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness item # RED82CR. This kit comes with a mounting bracket that will fit inside the factory knockouts on your dash. I attached a couple of pictures below so you can see what it looks like installed.

What kind of trailer are you pulling?

My set came with three dash mounts and one fit as factory. Very happy. My issue was finding the plug. Could not see/reach from under dash. Had to take lower dash off to find the plug taped to the side wall. Be careful pulling it down. I somehow disconnected an orange wire from a green wire and the truck would not start. Seems like that one wire is a safety interlock. Took three days to find it. Truck runs fine now.
