Question:

I am seeing conflicting information online. My question is: Is the Saris Bones 2 trunk rack compatible with a 2024 Subaru Outback regular wagon? If so, are Hatch Huggers required? If Hatch Huggers are required, in what position are they needed top, side or bottom?

Hey Curtis! I just went through the Saris fitguide and it looks like they removed that requirement for the 2024 Subaru Outback. The only notes they have are to place the lower rack feet into the license plate well, and do not use your rear wiper with the Saris Bones 2 # SA805BL installed.

However, you will probably have an easier time installing this and it will be more secure if you still replace the side hooks with the Hatch Huggers # SA3035. They certainly won't hurt anything. I'm sure there are really tight tolerances on the side, which is why these were originally listed as a requirement. Just because the hooks will work doesn't mean they're always the best option.

If you don't want to spend the extra, go ahead and get the bike rack and run it as is. If you don't like it with the side hooks you can always pick up the Hatch Huggers separately and add them later.

@CurtisS you're welcome! The Saris Bones 2 # SA805BL will work well for your Trek Verve 2 bikes, just be sure they stay within the 35 lb per bike capacity. Enjoy the rides!
