What Prevents Truck Bed Camper From Falling off of Camper Jacks

Question:

What prevents the camper from slipping sideways off the jack? The lifting surface doesn’t appear very wide.

Hey Matt, that's a really good question but as long as you place the Brophy Cable Camper Jack # CJ74H in the right spot and you are on level and stable ground it will hold itself in place and would not slip or allow the camper to slip off of it. Each lifting bracket measures 26-1/2" long x 2" wide x 2" tall. What type of camper do you have?

Thanks for the reply. It’s a homemade cab over truck camper for a Jeep Gladiator. 710 pounds dry. If you raise one side 8” for example, and there is any side-to-side play in the jacks, it seems like it wouldn’t take much to have them slip off. Perhaps the design causes the weight to lean into the other jack and sort of squeeze against the camper?? I was actually looking at the 1000 pound, 57” set, but I commented on the wrong model. Oops.

@Matt if you were to raise them at different heights all bets are off as to when and if it would stay stable. I wouldn't recommend doing a drastic height different between the sides. At a certain point the wall of the camper would force the jack off the bottom of the bracket.

@JamesonC I believe the instructions tell you to raise it 8” at a time alternating sides if you are alone. So it sounds like there might be reason for concern based on your answer. Thanks.
