i have a curt q20 hitch i am thinking of gy48fr my only concern is bed height distance 2024 chev 1 ton with pucks 2020 high country 295rl

Thanks for the information Rick! I can't give you 100% yes on height clearance but I can give you the specs on the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY48FR so you can take some quick measurements that will answer your question. I will say this is an extremely popular gooseneck pin box that is commonly used with newer Silverado's with 6-3/4' and 8' bed lengths.

If you look at the diagram I attached below you'll see the the two measurements labeled C/L Ball. These are the distances from the top most forward mounting bolt that the Gen-Y item # GY48FR attaches to on your High Country 295RL. They go from the top mounting bolt to the center of your gooseneck ball as it sits in the adapter. You'll be able to use these dimensions to determine clearance.

If your 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 has the shorter 6-3/4' bed, I highly recommend using the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for GM OEM Puck Systems item # GY55XR. This offset gooseneck ball will drop into the gooseneck hole and the two pucks closest to your tailgate. It's going to push the gooseneck connection back 5" towards your tailgate.

The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY48FR is designed to replace Lippert 1116 and 1716 5th wheel pin boxes only. If you would like to send me a picture of the sticker located on your pin box's mounting bracket directly to the email address you receive this response from, I can verify this is the correct one you'll need or find you the right one. The sticker should say date of manufacture, weight capacity, and have some form of RPO, LCI, or serial number on it. You can also carefully put all that information where it says Add Comment.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the Gen-Y logo.

I have a 2024 2500 short bed and my bed clearance is far more than a normal 5th wheel. You should absolutely have no issued with clearance. Plus, you get your bed use back.

@Greg It all depends on how far the nose sticks out compared to where the pin box attaches to the gooseneck. He's probably good with a 2020 High Country 295RL but it doesn't hurt to take a measurement or two. Plus other people are going to read this.
