Question:

Greetings, I am looking to replace my entire powered awning for my 2021 Coachman Apex Nano 19BHS. I believe it has a 12 awning. I know for certain I need to replace the awning, roller arm, and motor. Could you please assist me in this?

Hi Mike, I'd be happy to help you get your 2021 Coachmen Apex Nano 19BHS back in shape. Since you're replacing the awning, roller tube, arms, and motor, I actually recommend replacing the entire awning assembly rather than piecing everything together. If it were my camper, I'd go with the 12 ft wide Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning, Part # LCV000334919-362241. It includes the roller tube, fabric, arms, motor, and switch, so everything is designed to work together and makes for a much cleaner replacement.

One of the things I really like about the Solera XL is the extra shade it provides. Thanks to its 12 foot width and extended 9 foot 8 inch projection, it gives you about 20 percent more covered space than a standard 8 foot awning. That extra coverage makes a noticeable difference on hot days. I also love how easy it is to use, You can extend or retract the awning with the push of a button, so there's no hand cranking or wrestling with it at the campsite. It also has a manual override If your battery dies or you lose power, you can still retract the awning with a 7/16 inch socket and a drill, so you won't be stuck trying to figure out how to get it closed before heading home.

Before ordering, I do want to verify that a 12 foot awning is the correct size. The measurement that matters is the distance from the center of one awning arm to the center of the other. While you're measuring, take a quick look for anything like lights, vents, or windows that could interfere with the awning when it's fully extended. It's also a good idea to make sure there's enough flat wall space above the door so the awning rail and mounting brackets will fit without running into the roof trim or clearance lights.

One other thing I'll throw out there from personal experience is the etrailer Reversible RV Outdoor Rug, Part # e22KR. I've used it myself, and it's been a really nice addition to the campsite. It gives you a clean place to relax outside, helps keep dirt out of the camper, and I think the charcoal and gray color would look really nice paired with the White Fade Solera awning. It just makes the whole outdoor setup feel a little more inviting.

How did you measure your current awning, and how do you enjoy using it most when you're camping, relaxing with a morning coffee, keeping the kids in the shade, or cooking outside?
