Recommended B&W Companion Hitch for a Truck w/a 8' Long Bed and Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch

Updated 07/06/2026 | Published 06/29/2026

Question:

I currently have a BandW turnover gooseneck ball installed on my Chevy extended cab truck with 8 ft bed. I am wanting to purchase the BandW 5th wheel hitch that fits into the hole of the gooseneck ball. Is there any reason to purchase the slider hitch since I have an 8ft truck bed or is that unnecessary?

None at all Tracy! Since your 2005 Chevy Silverado has the longer 8' bed, you'll need the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter item # BWRVK3500.

The B&W item # BWRVK3500 is the fixed version of the Companion that attaches to the square receiver of the B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitches. It has a 20,000 lbs capacity and comes with everything you'll need to get it set up and towing.

Please note that the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3500 can't be used with rotating pin boxes unless the rotating feature is locked out.

To make towing with a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer easier, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your Silverado and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. You won't have to get down underneath your bumper to connect your trailer.

What kind of 5th wheel trailer are you pulling?
