Is the B&W Continuum a Good Choice for My 21 Foot 2018 Travel Trailer and 2026 Ford F-150?

Hi, I have a 21’ 2018 travel trailer with max 5900 Gvwr and a 2026 Ford F150 Lariat 11,600 weight Distribution and 1,160 lb. Max tongue wt. would you suggest continuum weight distribution and which is a good fit? Thanks LaRae

Hello LaRae,

Thanks for writing in, it's been a while.

With your 2018 travel trailer having a 5,900 lb GVWR, I think the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # BW78FR would be a great choice.

What I really like about the Continuum is how easy it is to use. Unlike a traditional weight distribution hitch, you don't have to worry about matching spring bars to your trailer's tongue weight. The adjustable design makes it easy to dial in the amount of weight distribution your trailer needs, and the built-in sway control does a great job of helping keep the trailer tracking straight behind your truck. It's one of those hitches that just works without a lot of fuss once you have it set up.

One thing I do want to mention is that once the # BW78FR is installed, the lowest point of the hitch will sit about 9 inches below the bottom of your trailer frame. I'd recommend checking how much ground clearance you have now so you can get an idea of how much clearance you'll have after it's installed, especially if you tow on uneven roads or into campgrounds with dips. If you find that you do not have the clearance please let me know, in that case I will find the right Weigh Safe for you. I attached an image so you can see how below the frame it sits.

I set my buddy with the Continuum on his 30-foot camper, and he's been really impressed with it. The first thing he mentioned was how much more stable the camper felt, especially on the highway, and he said it was also nice to get some color back to his knuckles.

Absolutely, hands down the best and easiest weight distribution hitch on the market. I love it... So easy to use, easy to adjust, easy to stow, and a incredibly smooth ride. I have over 15k miles on it already.

Hello Larae. I've owned the B&W Continuum hitch for a year and a half. Current equipment: 2023 F150 XL 4x2 Max tow & payload. 2025 Brinkley I-265 with about 10,000 miles driven with this hitch. This is my 4th travel trailer over the last 20 years. I can give, without hesitation, the best recommendation for this hitch. NOTE: Clearance has not been an issue. The clearance is higher than my rear differential bulb on the rear axle by 4 inches at it's worst so far.

So I will start with this….the Continuum hitch is not the best on the market. Those that say it is haven’t tried a Hensley hitch. That being said, not everyone has 4 grand laying around to buy a Hensley and the frequency of use may not even warrant that. The B and W Continuum is, in my opinion, the next best thing to a Hensley and very easy to use once you get it installed. With the hydraulic ram to load the tension arms it is very easy to get dialed in for that perfect weight distribution. I used this hitch for two years and I have to say “don’t waste your money on those supposed anti-sway or equalizer hitches. I ran this with a 2025 Ram 1500 and a 30 foot Keystone Cougar bumper pull, so I have no doubt your setup will work just fine. Simple to hitch up and adjust and simple to unhitch. No bars to lug around, no cheater bars to crank up your torsion bars, just hook up the ball, click the assembly into the lower rotating assembly and jack the hydraulic ram to the desired pressure. You have to play around a bit with the pressure to get it dialed in but it’s very quick and easy. The included receiver hitch is also a breeze to adjust with slide out pins instead of bolts torqued down to 300 foot pounds. The only reason I switched is because our frequency of use went way up and we pull across South Dakota and Wyoming where the wind never stops blowing. The Continuum does a better job of controlling sway than other equalizer hitches and is leagues above other equalizer hitches for weight distribution, but still doesn’t stop the sway. For that reason I decided to go with the Hensley which all but eliminated my sway. As I said, frequency of use, environmental conditions and length of trips is the only reason I switched from the Continuum. If I ever sell my camper, it will have more value too if I include the Continuum. Hope that helps. Chris

The Continuum is the best hitch that I have ever used. I have towed for many years and many trailers and I won’t ever go back to the old bar setup. I don’t feel the trailer and there is no sway. Also you can back up with the BW hitch unlike all the others.
