Are The Goodyear Duratrac LT225/75R16 Trailer Tires Or Truck Tires?

Updated 06/30/2026 | Published 06/25/2026

Question:

So are these trailer tires or light truck tires? I have been previously warned against using LT tires on my fifth wheel and sticking to trailer tires only. What would be the difference?

Hey TJ, thanks for reaching out. Those Goodyear Duratrac LT225/75R16 Trailer Tire with Eagle Aluminum Wheel # LH53MR are actually light truck (LT) tires, not trailer tires. The giveaway is the size designation: LT225/75R16. If they were trailer tires, the size would start with ST (Special Trailer). The Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac is built for pickups, SUVs, and other light trucks, with an aggressive tread that's great for off-road use.

That said, plenty of people do run LT tires on trailers, especially off-road, overland, and toy hauler setups. We advertise them as trailer tires because of this, and because the wheel is a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern which is very common for trailers. The important thing is making sure the tire's load rating is high enough for your trailer and that your wheels can handle the required air pressure.

Do you take you camper off-road a lot?
