Identifying Longer MC4 Connection On Go Power Entry Plate

Question:
I have what I assume is an older version of this entry plate without the supports? My negative side cable has a long connector of some sort that I can’t identify and when this connection flexes it causes the connection from the panel to the controller to fail. Can you help identify this longer connector? See attached image

Hey Mark! That looks like an in-line diode on the MC4 connector. Those are typically installed on the positive side, but I can't think of anything else that matches that appearance. It's not a standard part of the Go Power entry plate, so it was added by whoever installed it.
Unless you have a much older solar setup that specifically requires a diode, modern solar charge controllers prevent backfeeding so the diode wouldn't be necessary. It should be safe to remove it and replace it with a standard MC4 connector so you don't have the issues with the flexing.

Robin, My Camper is a 2025 KZ Ridgeway 31RL 5th wheel; After I posted this comment I continued to dig around, I also came across the diodes but seeing as they typically go on the positive side I dismissed those. I believe this is actually an in-line fuse? Like this one https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Rich-Solar/RS44VR.html ?
