Replacement For Husky WDH And Reese Friction Sway Bar On 2007 Airstream Safari 20'
Updated 06/27/2026 | Published 06/22/2026 >
Question:
I have a 2007 Airstream 20 Safari towed by 2018 Toyota Tacoma. I use a Husky hitch with weight distributing bars and a Reese friction sway bar. Im looking for an easier less labor intensive system getting older!. Im thinking of an articulating hitch. Any recommendations. Im a previous satisfied customer! Thanks

Hey Lou! An articulating hitch is nice for off-roading, but it isn't a good replacement for your current setup. Since you're looking for something that's easier to use, I think the Blue Ox SwayPro is the best solution.
It combines weight distribution and sway control into one hitch, so you can eliminate the separate Reese friction sway bar altogether. The spring bars are easy to install, the lift brackets make hookup much simpler, and you won't have to disconnect the Reese when backing up or making tight turns like you do now.
Based on the specs for your 2007 Airstream Safari, I recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW0750. Its 550-750 lb tongue weight range is a great match for your trailer, and will give you an easier hookup while providing the weight distribution and sway control you're looking for.
Where are you headed next with the Airstream?

My Airstream doesn’t work takes a 2 3/8” hitch. Will this hitch work or do I need another Blue Ox? Thanks

The Blue Ox Sway Pro works great with my F-350, Lance camper and 20ft enclosed trailer combination, which requires a 40” hitch extension. I use a cheater bar when setting the spring bars to provide additional leverage. Once you get the hang of it , it only takes a few extra minutes to install the spring bars. It definitely helps to lower the jack to take weight off the ball when setting the spring bars. The set-up tracks straight loaded or empty with the Blue Ox in place. Definitely worth the money.
