Question:
Hi, I think I trust you guys better than another vendor. But, its confusing because I know nothing about this stuff. I ordered a BVD0278-00 120V AC motor for a Ventline PR-9 kitchen stove fan. Their vendor sent a motor with only black and white wires. While cruising your site it looks like it should have 3 wires R, W and black as its a 2 speed fan. If you guys verify this, Ill be doing business with you again. Thanks for your help.

Hey Kathie. We sure would appreciate you bringing your business to us. The Replacement Fan Motor item # BVD0278-00 definitely has three wires, red, white, and blue. This is a 110v motor designed to be used exclusively with a AC power source. The extra wire is what controls the fan speed. Here are their individual functions:
White Wire - Common/Neutral power wire
Red Wire - High-speed power wire
Blue Wire - Low-speed power wire
It sounds like you may have gotten the Replacement 12V DC Motor for Ventline Fans item # BVD0218-00. This motor is designed to work with a 12V DC power source. It's a simple two wire power and ground connection.
Is your Ventline PR-9 kitchen stove fan powered by AC or DC because both these motors will work with Ventline P series rangehoods? Do you have a part number off of your current motor?
You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

The BVD0218-00 is a single speed 12 VDC motor kit that fit our Ventline Ceiling Bathroom Exhaust Fan in our RV Trailer. It is not for a 120 VAC motor on a household kitchen range hood. The two speed BVD0278-00 motor fits the residential or Manufactured Home 120 VAC Ventline Range Hood and can be used as a 2 speed or a single speed motor depending on what switch you have. It sounds like you have a 2 speed unit.

Hi Jerred, We haven't pulled the housing out - yet so no actual part no. I don't know if this helps, the label says Model PR-9, 100 CFM, 120VAC, 60 HZ, 1.8 AMP (1.5 AMP MTR). The mobile home dates back to 1997 and this is original equipment. It is definitely a 3-wire config.
