Looking for Replacement Trailer Wheel that Looks like Black Rock 997 Series Trailer Wheel

Updated 06/22/2026 | Published 06/19/2026

Question:

ETrailer Team: Attempting to replace Mod trailer wheels 16x6 8- 6.5 Pilot CH 4.9 Why cant 16 be replaced by Black Rock 997 series? Was looking for 17 -8 -8x6.5 Bolt pattern Bore: 5.15 . These rims are 2 Wider, as long as there is enough offset built in and fender room, Aluminum Rims usually run 7. Center pilot: 5.15, one could Go with Centrics. Why will these 17 rims not work ?

Hey David, I looked up those wheels and they appear to be a wheel designed for vehicles like trucks and SUVs. It wouldn't be something you would want to install on a trailer. We do have a similar black mod wheel that matches what you would need with the Dexstar Mini Mod wheel part # AM20761B which looks a lot like what you are looking for. Would this be something that could work for you?

@DavidW ahh yeah I see what you mean as there's basically no 17 inch diameter trailer wheels.

Why can I not use 17" rim, One is able to use truck rim/tires on trailer, One should not use trailer rim/Tire on Trucks, Correct ? . What is the rating in lbs of this rim ? Should be good for lighter trailers, Correct ?

@David The offset for trailer wheels needs to be zero and vehicle offsets are always different. Also they just aren't reinforced for the vertical loads.
