Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out. On a Dexter D40 axle, the most common spring is a 25-1/4" double-eye leaf spring measured center-of-eye to center-of-eye when unloaded, so if you're measuring about 25-1/2" from hanger to hanger on the trailer, that's actually right in the ballpark for a 25-1/4" spring. If you want to upgrade the spring capacity a bit, we do have a good option for that. I recommend the following:

- 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,400-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # DX95CR

Since you're replacing the leaf springs, you'll also need new U-bolts, and for that you'll need part # APUBR-1.

What trips do you have planned once you get the springs replaced?
