What Rear Sway Bar Will Work with My 2019 GMC 3500HD that has Air Bags?

Question:

Im looking for the correct anti sway bar for my truck, I have a 2019 GMC 3500HD. It does NOT have a lift, however the front has a levelling kit rear is stock - however I did add airbags, so it does sit slightly higher than stock as a result of that. Not sure which hellwig sway bar kit I should order, can you help?

Hi Robert,

Air bags are considered a suspension enhancement and don't permanently raise your suspension like a lift kit would, so I don't recommend using the Hellwig Adjustable Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # HE85YR since they're designed for trucks with 2" to 4" lift.

Instead, I recommend the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM28BQ. It is 1 3/8" in diameter which is slightly thicker than the HE85YR and will provide more stability for reducing sway. It also improves cornering by balancing the weight transfer so sharp turns feel more controlled and driving requires fewer steering corrections. This kit is also specifically listed to work with air bags, so it won't affect using your air bags at all.

Well, I prefer the hellwig product, there are two versions. They sell, one for lifted trucks and one for standard up to 2 in lift, I thought that's the one that I should order

@Robert If you prefer Hellwig you can of course go with that option. We do have the Hellwig Adjustable Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # HE86GR for stock suspension GMC trucks that will work for you. Please be aware as of today, 6/16/26, the kit is out of stock which is why I recommended the Roadmaster kit to you.
