Can The MORryde RV Cargo Slide Tray Be Used If The Mounting Surface Is Smaller Than The Tray?

Published 06/11/2026

Question:

I have room for the MR38FR sliding tray, but only have 72 inside mounting surface. There is a well or down on both sides. Therefore the frame would extend out about 9 inches on both sides. Dont think I would ever put 800s on it. What are your thoughts?

Hey Bob, thanks for reaching out, and good question. For that setup, as long as the tray is properly secured in the portion that is touching the floor, it will be just fine. It might be a bit more difficult to install since you can't secure the corners, but as long as you get everything lined up, use at least 4 screws on each side and evenly space them out, it should work just fine. I'd also recommend keeping your heavier items closer to the center of the tray, just to be safe.

What kind of stuff will you be keeping on the tray.

Thanks. Looks like other RVers had put the long one in the same camper. We'll keep the heaver stuff closer to center.

@BobF Awesome! Yea I talked to one of our installers and he said the same thing. Not uncommon for people to use larger trays on campers with those drop-down compartments. Keep an eye on those heavier items and you'll be good to go. Feel free to reach out if you ever need anything else! Happy camping!
