Question:
Will the SM87FR Smart Plug fit an Airstream 2018 23FB Flying Cloud and do you have customers who have installed this? Also, SmartPlug introduced a right angle cord/plug and wonder if thats available in a plug/receptacle kit like the SM87FR?

Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the Smart Plug # SM87FR is a very common upgrade on Airstreams, and we've had plenty of customers install them on Flying Clouds from that generation with good results. The mounting footprint is very close to the factory shore power inlet, so the installation is typically pretty straightforward. I'd still take a quick look behind the existing inlet just to make sure you have enough clearance for the SmartPlug housing, but overall it's one of the more popular upgrades Airstream owners make.
As for the right-angle version, SmartPlug does offer right-angle cord options, but we do not currently offer a kit that combines the inlet and a right-angle connector like the # SM87FR. The # SM87FR includes the standard straight-style retrofit connector. If the angled cord is important for your setup, you'd be looking at purchasing the inlet kit and sourcing the right-angle cord separately. We have the angled 30 amp cord available as part # SM22YB.
Do you usually camp in a lot of tight spots where the 90 degree hookup would be necessary?

We don't usually camp in tight places, but I feel like the right angle connection puts less strain on the trailer but in actuality it is probably not. I had that same thought about the water connection, especially when I put on the inline water filter, but I try to put that on the faucet connection and have not had any issues.
