How Far is the Hitch Pin Hole from the Back of the Thule Arcos Enclosed Cargo Carrier TH25YE?

Updated 06/03/2026 | Published 05/28/2026

Question:

I am buying a Rivian R2. I would like to add the Thule Arcos Enclosed Cargo Carrier. Rivian moved the charge port to the drivers side rear. Will the carrier stop me from using Tesla Superchargers that have the short cords?

You should be good Peter. The closest portion of the Thule Arcos Enclosed Cargo Carrier item # TH25YE sits 12.3" back from the hitch pin hole of the shank. It's 67" long x 31.5" wide x 19" tall and fits a 2" receiver. You'll want to measure from the hitch pin hole out 12.3 and see if that'll give you enough clearance to connect the charger.

Another option if you need more clearance is to use the Thule Arcos Tilting Platform with Large Cargo Box item # TH34FR98AB. This one will tilt down and away to give you more room.

I don't have any way of knowing how long the cable is on a Tesla charger, how large the charger and handle is, or where your Rivian's charge port is in relation to the hitch.

What size hitch does your Rivian R2 have?
