Hey Jim! The Shocker HD Max Black Air Cushioned 2-Ball Mount #SHK82GR you were looking at will do more to reduce the shock, chucking, and rough ride you feel while towing. Since the cushioning on the Shocker is built into the connection point itself, it can absorb a lot of the road shock before it reaches the truck. This will give you a noticeably smoother towing experience.

Air bags like the Firestone # F2598 will also absorb some road shock and smooth out the ride. However, they're primarily designed to provide additional support and level the truck while towing. If you're experiencing significant rear sag, air bags are probably the better overall upgrade since they'll improve both vehicle support and ride quality. If your truck is already towing level, the Shocker HD Max would be the better choice.

What kind of trailer are you towing?
