Can The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch BWRVK3710 Be Used In A Silverado 3500 Without Pucks?

Updated 05/27/2026 | Published 05/23/2026

Question:

I purchased the BWRVK3710 and then got a different truck. Still have hitch in box. My new truck, 2024 Chevy 3500hd longbed does not have a Puck System. What are my options?

Hi Barry!

I do have a couple options available for your new 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 with the 8 foot bed and no factory pucks, but the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3710 doesn't really have a way to be adapted to fit.

First option is to get the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Turnoverball for Chevy/GMC - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BW65SR and then either return or sell the B&W Companion OEM # BWRVK3710 you previously purchased. The # BW65SR includes the underbed gooseneck hitch as well as the Companion hitch, so it's an all in one part.

The next option is to get the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRK1020 and the Base for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs # BWRVB3500. You could then use the Head Assembly for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 25,000 lbs # BWRVC3006 you got with your previous hitch, but you would need to either return or sell the Companion OEM Base # BWRVB3710.

The last option would be to go with above bed rails. For that, you would need the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # BWRVK2505 and either the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BW52AR (you would need to return or sell the whole hitch you previously ordered) or use the Base for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs # BW25AR and the Head Assembly for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 25,000 lbs # BWRVC3006 you already have. You would still need to either return or sell the Companion OEM Base # BWRVB3710 though.

I know it's a bummer, but no matter which way you go, you will either be returning or selling the whole part you ordered or the base from what you ordered. Unfortunately, there is no way around that. If I were doing this, I would go with the first option and sell the part you got. Going this route, you would not need to pay any return shipping and should be able to get exactly what you paid for it. B&W is always sought after and what you have is popular. If you decide to sell it, it will fit the following vehicles:

2020 - 2026 GMC Sierra 2500 8 Foot Bed with OEM Prep Pkg
2020 - 2026 GMC Sierra 3500 8 Foot Bed with OEM Prep Pkg
2020 - 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 8 Foot Bed with OEM Prep Pkg
2020 - 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 8 Foot Bed with OEM Prep Pkg

It technically can be used in the 6-3/4 foot bed as well, but with it being a fixed hitch, it isn't the best option for short bed trucks.

That was a lot of information, so let me know if you have any questions or anything. What are you going to be towing with your new truck?
