Question:

I have put several tailgate light bar on my trucks over the years. However the 2026 is causing me issues. If I plug into my trail plug the truck thinks there is a trailer connected and turns off my park sense. I have searched on line trying to solve the problem and it seems there is a way to hardwire it however I could not find any detailed instructions on where to connect the wires. Also the area where I would mount it is plastic and not flat and the power gate harness is in the way. Please let me know how to fix this or what cable and light bar will work best with a 2026 Ram with rear camera, power tail gate and park sense..

Hey Alan! To get around the trailer detection in your 2026 Ram 1500 I recommend adding the Curt # C59236. This will completely bypass the factory wiring, allowing you to power the Putco Red Blade Dual LED Tailgate Light Bars # P57CR.

You can still install it in the normal mounting position using the adhesive. However, since the surface is uneven, I would add some additional mounting clips over the housing of the light bars to keep them secure on the tailgate. With the two piece design I think you will be able to route it around your power gate harness without any issues.
