Hello Dan,
Thanks for writing in.
The Curt # C14012 you were looking at is actually made for the Transit cargo van and passenger wagon models, so it will not fit the 2018 Ford Transit 350HD cab and chassis models with the Reading CSV body.
For your setup, I’d be looking more at a universal weld-on style hitch like the Curt # C47CR. Since the Reading body changes the rear frame and body layout quite a bit, the universal heavy-duty hitches are usually the better option on service body trucks like yours.
The # C47CR fits frame widths up to 44" wide and has a 9" drop, which helps on utility body applications where the body sits lower behind the frame. To see if it’ll work, you’ll want to measure the outside-to-outside width of the frame rails where the hitch would mount and also check the clearance under the rear of the Reading body for the receiver tube and side brackets.
As long as there’s enough room around the rear bumper, step, or tool compartments, this is typically a really good solution for cab and chassis Transit models. Since service bodies can vary a little depending on how they were built, a quick photo of the rear underside and the frame width measurement would help confirm everything before ordering.
What are you planning on towing with the Transit once you get everything set up?
