Hello again Brad,

I am really sorry, but like I said before, we are not able to pull up the original component information for your camper using the VIN. Trust me, I wish a database like that existed because it would make our jobs a whole lot easier.

Since you are replacing the whole landing gear system instead of just the broken gear, I think the Lippert Electric Landing Gear Set # LC333964 is probably going to be your best option. Based on your description and the photos you sent over, there is a very good chance it will work for your setup, but I would still want to verify a couple measurements first just to be safe. The main things to check will be the spacing between the welded mounting brackets on the trailer frame and the size of your current jack tubes. The Lippert system is designed around the common 15-1/2 inch inside weld stop spacing and uses standard 2 inch by 2 inch outer jack tubes, so if your measurements are close to that, there is a very good chance the # LC333964 will work well for your camper. The style using the large cross bolts through the brackets is also a pretty common setup, which is another reason I think this system is a strong possibility for your Jayco.

For the awning, we will need one important measurement before picking out the correct replacement. You will want to measure from the center of one awning arm to the center of the other arm while the awning is mounted on the trailer (I attached an image for reference). That center-to-center measurement is what determines the awning size since the fabric itself will always measure shorter.

For example, if your measurement comes out to 16 feet from arm center to arm center, then the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning # LCV000334965-362241 would be a really nice upgrade from your current Coleman G-2 manual awning. This is a complete power awning kit, so it includes the roller tube, fabric, power arms, and switch assembly. It is a great way to modernize the camper and gives you almost 10 feet of projection for a lot of extra shade.

As far as battery power goes, one good 12 volt battery is normally enough to run both the electric landing gear and the power awning. The landing gear will be the biggest power draw, especially while lifting the front of the trailer. If your current battery is older or smaller in capacity, moving up to a larger battery or eventually adding a second battery would definitely help if you do much camping without hookups.

Once you get those measurements, I would be happy to help narrow everything down and make sure you get the correct setup the first time. That Jayco looks like a really cool camper project. Are you getting it ready for some weekend trips nearby or planning to put some miles on it this year?

Fabulous Friday, Kate, I appreciate your assistance regarding my camper’s landing gear. Based on the included measurements, can you please confirm which manual and electric jack kits I would need as replacements, and, if possible, which gear/bearing kit will work as a replacement for my existing lead landing jack with a broken gear spline, so I won’t need to replace the entire jack? Thanks again! @BradD I appreciate all the measurements you included. That helped narrow things down quite a bit. Based on what you provided, your landing gear matches pretty closely with the older Venture/Lippert style systems that use the 1" to 3/4" cross shaft connection. Since the spline is already damaged and replacement internal components for these older systems are getting tough to identify and source, I really think replacing the landing gear setup is going to be the best long-term option. For a manual replacement, I’d look at the Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear Set # LG-183708 since it’s one of the closest matches to your dimensions and bracket spacing. If you’d rather upgrade to electric while replacing everything, the Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set # LG-1 would probably be your best option. At this point, even if the exact internal gear or spline parts could be identified, the cost and effort to rebuild the older lead leg usually ends up close to replacing the system entirely. Replacing the full setup also gives you fresh legs, gears, and cross shaft components so you’re less likely to run into another issue down the road. You did a great job with the measurements by the way. The outside-to-outside dimension and cross shaft details were especially helpful.
