How Does PullRite SuperGlide Ride While Driving

Updated 05/19/2026 | Published 05/15/2026

Question:

How is the ride while driving? Our fifth wheel weighs 14k pounds dry, and the hitch that is recommended for my truck- 3500 Ram Mega Cab is rated at 24k. Seems overkill and possibly a bumpy ride? The pin box is a Curt Helux. Also, when back up or pulling forward does it slide into place and create noise and can you feel it in the truck pretty good?

Hey Joseph! The 24k rating of the PullRite SuperGlide # PUL28RR will not create a rough ride with your 14k 5th wheel. It just means the hitch is built with a larger safety margin. Your Curt Helux pin box will also help absorb chucking and road shock, so the combination should tow smoothly for a great overall experience.

With the SuperGlide, you may hear or feel a small clunk when backing or making tight turns as the hitch automatically slides, but it is normal and typically not harsh or excessive. During normal driving you will not notice the slider moving at all. Making sure the hitch stays properly lubricated will also help minimize noise and keep the slider smooth.

What kind of 5th wheel are you towing?

It’s big and it’s heavy and I like it. I use it on a full-size Ram 3500 Dually long bed. The sliding hitch is not needed for a long bed, but I like the fact that it slides further back, giving me the ability to turn even tighter than 90°. It is heavy duty but a heavy tow capacity and heavy pen weight, but my thought is by one hitch, which is the biggest baddest you can get and then you should be able to tow just about any fifth wheel. Maintenance is easy just remember to carry a can of WD-40 and every trip or two give it a quick spray. While driving, it doesn’t make a lot of noise, but you will hear occasional clunk when backing up and that’s just the auto slide part of it. Overall, I like it and it deserved me well.

Best hitch I’ve owned. Ridiculously smooth. 24k will not be bumpy at all. The 18” of slide is well worth it.
