Can The Heat Pump In GE Deluxe AC Kit GE34RR Replace Furnace In Cold Weather?
Published 05/07/2026 >
Question:
My camper has no ductwork and I like the GE unit with heat, but I’m not sure if the heat pump means I can stop using my furnace. How should I think about GE34RR?

Hey Tasha! The GE Appliances Deluxe Plus # GE34RR is a complete ductless 15,000 Btu system with a built-in heat pump, so it can cool your camper and also provide a little bit of electric heat when conditions are right.
I would not treat it as a full furnace replacement, though. GE lists the minimum heat pump operating temperature at 25 degrees F, so it’s best for chilly mornings, cool nights, and saving propane when you’re plugged into shore power. Once the weather gets truly cold, your RV furnace is still the better primary heat source.
Also, this specific kit is ductless, so it’s meant for RVs without ceiling ductwork. Does your camper currently have a direct-dump ceiling assembly under the AC, Tasha?
