Low Profile Modern AC System For Class C Motorhome

Published 05/07/2026

Question:

I’m trying to keep the height down on my Class C because we’re always watching tree limbs and low covers at campgrounds. Is the Advent low-profile 13,500 Btu unit a better option than a standard-height AC?

Hey Mateo! The Advent Air # ADV76SR makes a lot of sense if rooftop height is one of your main concerns. It’s a low-profile unit that measures 10-1/8 inches tall, so it sits several inches lower than many standard-profile RV AC units. It also weighs 69 lbs and is rated at 13,500 Btu, which puts it in that useful range for many motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels.

The main thing to keep clear is that # ADV76SR is the rooftop AC unit only. It is not a complete system by itself, so to finish the setup you can pair it with the Air Distribution Box w/ Wall-Mounted Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ADV98SR. That kit works for ducted or ductless setups, which makes it a nice option whether your Class C has ceiling ducts or a direct-discharge air box.

For fit, # ADV76SR uses a 14-1/4 inch x 14-1/4 inch opening, fits roofs from 2-1/2 inches to 5 inches thick, runs on 110V/60 Hz, and includes the wiring harness.

What brand of AC and ceiling assembly is on your Class C now, Mateo? That’ll be the big piece in figuring out what else you’d need with it. Sometimes you need to trim the opening a bit or add spacers, but not always.
