Don't Have Celling Vents In Camper -- Which Replacement Air Conditioner System Will Work?

Published 05/06/2026

Question:

I don’t have ceiling vents in my camper now, so I’m pretty sure I need a ductless system. We mostly camp in summer, and I’d rather replace everything than try to reuse old AC parts. What would you recommend?

Hey Angela - if you don’t have ceiling vents carrying air through the RV and the air just blows right from the inside ceiling assembly, that’s a ductless setup. For more cooling, I’d look at the Coleman-Mach Signature Mach 15 # CM93RR, or the Coleman-Mach Roughneck Mach 15 # CM88RR if you want the tougher version for rougher travel.

That full replacement route makes even more sense on older campers, because these newer R32 systems are a lot easier to work with than trying to reuse aging components from an older AC setup. The older refrigerant parts are hard to find in some instances and all the new kits we carry have moved to the new R32 refrigerant setup.

What kind of RV is it?
