Bruce, we have a 2006 American Eagle with the 42 series step. After 20 years of frequent use, the teeth on the rotating arm were so worn we needed to replace more than just the motor. We replaced the "Replacement Motor with Box Brackets" from eTrailer. If you can lift your RV to provide adequate clearance it is a relatively simple replacement. We loosened the electrical connection to the motor to control the arm to rotate to a position that would allow access to the four nuts that you remove.
