Question:

I am converting from agm to li. I have a 4590k converter. I think all I need is a jumper to convert this unit to li. Is this correct. If so would you please send me a required jumper?

Hi Donald, great question, and I completely understand wanting to keep things simple with a jumper instead of reworking the whole setup but you would need to replace the converter portion of the system to be compatible with lithium.

The part # PD4590CSV converter section that works with your Progressive Dynamics 4500 series 90 Amp PD4590K part # PD4590K18LS8 is designed for lead acid and AGM batteries, and this particular model does not have a built in lithium mode or a switch option to switch profiles.

Because lithium batteries require a different charging profile, the converter section itself would need to be replaced with a lithium compatible version to safely and properly charge your batteries. That’s the best way to avoid undercharging and make sure your system performs the way it should.

The lithium specific replacement would be the PD4590LICSV, which is designed with the correct charging profile for lithium batteries and will work with your setup as long as you’re using the 90 amp configuration. We don’t currently carry this one anymore, but it is still available through other online retailers.

Let me know if you don't have the Progressive Dynamics 4500 series 90 Amp PD4590K. There should be a sticker inside the door that tells you which model you have. I am happy to point you in the right direction if it turns out that this isn't your model.
