Question:

2016 Chrysler Town and Country - I was told that the roof rack that is on my van will not work. Is there any way to get this to work? I want to order a tandem kayak that weighs 72 and I tow a small camper, so I’m going to have to find a way to get that up on top of my van. I am nearly 69 Years old and can’t lift that high.

Hey Kathy! It sounds like you have a factory roof rack and want to use the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898. Kayak racks like this with the lift typically require crossbar overhang so you don't hit the side of the vehicle. Since there are no aftermarket options to replace your factory rack you won't be able to use the Hullavator.

The only option with a lift assist that will work with your factory crossbars is the MOS UpLift Kayak Roof Rack and Lift Assist w/ Tie-Downs # MR89ZV. This doesn't have that overhang requirement, and has a weight capacity of 85 lbs so it can handle your 72 lb tandem kayak.
