Hi Andrea, surge protection is not part of the adapter.

It does not have a surge protector in the cord. But you wouldn’t want that honestly because the surge protectors sacrifice themselves to protect your camper. It’s best to have one before the power cord right off of the pedestal

That is s great question. Religious use of surge protectors is, I believe, key to keeping your RV safe. No there is not a surge protector on this adapter. There are two ways to look at it. First, in my case, I am only plugging into people I know houses. So I don’t worry about needing one. Second you are plugging into a 15A max circuit. So, you can go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a power strip with a built in surge protector. It wont be weather resistant, but if you google it you can find one that is Hope that helps? Lemme know if I can help further. Paul
