How Much Height Does Ford Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Adapter Add to Hitch Height

Published 03/19/2026

Question:

Can an adapter such as the Reese 30156 be used with standard fifth wheel bed rails to raise the height of the AM3200 hitch ball? I have a 2019 F250 Super Duty, which has tall bed sides. I have dropped the pin box to its lowest position and raised the AM3200 hitch ball to its highest position. I would still like a bit more bed clearance on tight turns.

Hey Clif, while we don't still carry the RP30156 we did for a long time and I know that it adds about 2 inches to the overall height of the hitch setup over a standard rail. We do still carry the Curt version part # C88KR which also adds about 2 inches. Would that be enough to get your trailer level?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Just to clarify, I do not have the puck system in my truck. I would have to mount this adapter to the standard fifth wheel bed rails. Is that acceptable?

@ClifN That wouldn't work unfortunately. Those adapters require the OEM Ford rail kits. Only solution for you would be probably to go with a taller hitch.
