Question:
I have a Jeep Wrangler, which has a maximum hitch weight of 350 pounds. For the point of this question, lets assume a weight distribution hitch weighs 50 pounds. Does that weight effectively add 50 pounds to the tongue weight of the trailer, effectively reducing my maximum tongue weight to 300 pounds?

Hey Loren. The actual weight of the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System item # EQ37040ET, which is 115 lbs, does not get added to the tongue weight of your Jeep. It gets added to your Jeep's total cargo/payload capacity. It will not lower your Jeep's 350 lbs tongue weight capacity at all.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler has a 3,500 lbs towing capacity so the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System item # EQ37040ET is going to be perfect. It works with trailers weighing up to 4,000 lbs and tongue weights up to 400 lbs. The built in sway control will keep your trailer in line behind your Jeep when you get passed by a semi, make a sudden lane change, or get hit by a gust of wind.
Please note you will need clearance on your trailer's frame 27"-32" back from the center of the coupler to attach the spring brackets of the Equal-i-zer item # EQ90-00-0401.
Depending on how much clearance you have with your spare, you many need to get the Equal-i-zer item # EQ90-00-0401 that does not included a shank and the 18" long Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank item # EQ90-02-4500. This setup is going to push the connection point out an additional six inches so you don't have to worry about your spare tire hitting the coupler or weight distribution system.

This hitch really improved the stability of the trailer I'm pulling. It was like a night and day difference between driving it 200 miles to bring the new trailer home without the stabilizer hitch to then installing and taking it on an actual road trip. While on the original trip home, I had numerous oncoming vehicles flashing me because my headlamps on low beam were hitting them in the eyes. This issue was resolved once the stabilizer hitch was installed. Just follow the concise instruction while installing and make sure you do it on level ground. Doing this made a huge difference.
