I have a 2021 Chevy 3500hd. I’m interested in the bed camera, however is it necessary to install a separate switch?

Hey Christopher, welcome back! The Custom Third Brake Light Camera for 8" Factory Monitor item # GCH37FR can be turned on and off through the settings if your truck has the 360 camera package. If not it will be activated when you put your Silverado in reverse. You can install an optional switch but it's not necessary.

The Custom Third Brake Light Camera for 7" Factory Monitor item # GCH57FR is the one with the switch kit. It's designed for the Silverado's with the factory 7" monitor and factory reverse camera.

What size monitor does your Silverado have?

Can you explain. The third brake light camera activates when I put the truck in reverse. At the moment I have the tailgate camera that activates when I put the truck in reverse

@ChristopherM When you put your Silverado in reverse the Custom Third Brake Light Camera item # GCH37FR is going to automatically display the picture from the camera on your 8" screen. It overrides the default screen on your monitor so you will not see the tailgate camera.
