Does 2018 Flagstaff E-Pro 15TB Have Electric Brakes

Question:

Hello! I have a situation with electric brake wiring that I need help with. FYI, Im awaiting a Redarc brake controller kit from you for my 2013 Toyota Tacoma with the factory towing package. Weve never owned a camper before, but found one yesterday from an individual in a distant city that wed arranged to buy as soon as I get my brake controller installed. Its a 2018 Flagstaff E-Pro 15TB. Heres my confusion: My Tacoma has a 7-point factory power connector. From what I could research online my understanding is that the center connection is used for electric brakes. However, I yesterday I took a picture of the trailers power plug-in, and looking at it today noticed it only has 6 contactsthe center contact looks to have a rubber plug instead of metal blades. So now Im wondering if this E-Pro actually has electric brakes at all. Theyre required by law here in SC. The current owner told me he never used the trailer brakes. If it does have them, will they even function given the difference in connectors? And if not, how can this be remedied? Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

Hey David! Looking at the 2018 Flagstaff E-Pro 15TB it comes standard with electric brakes. Also, the center pin on a 7-way is for the reverse lights. This is true for the RV standard as well as the SAE standard, see the attached pictures.

Since it comes with brakes from the factory, everything will line up on the 7-way connector so it will work with your 2013 Tacoma with the Tow-Pro Liberty # RED82CR installed.

Where are you headed first once you pick up the trailer?

Thank you for clearing that up! As luck would have it, I initially got some bad online info about the function of the center connector. My Tacoma does, indeed, have the Standard 7-way wiring as in the picture you included in your response. We bought the camper last weekend and made the 3-hour drive home with the new Redarc installed and it worked great! As camper newbies, we plan to head to a nearby State Park for some "test camping" to get familiar with our Flagstaff before venturing further from home. Thanks again for your thorough and helpful response!

@DavidN you're welcome! I’m glad to hear the Redarc worked out well and that the trip home went smoothly. A three-hour maiden voyage is a pretty solid shakedown run.
