Will the Shocker Hitch Air Cushioned Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Coupler Adapter Work w/a Curt A20?

Published 02/14/2026

Question:

I bought the Curt 20K sliding fifth wheel hitch off you. Works great. I am wanting to convert my gooseneck hitch over to be able and hook up to this fifth wheel. The shocker I was looking at said it was not designed for standard in bed fifth wheels. Do I even need a shocker set up, since this fifth wheel hitch has cushions built in to it? If I do or it is available can you provide me with the part number, for the shocker set up? Thank you.

Hey Tim. The Shocker Hitch Air Cushioned Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter item # SHK37YR is designed to work with flat bed 5th wheel hitches like the B&W Companion Flatbed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch item # BWRVK3050. It's not going to work with your Curt A20 item # C58ZJ.

The Shocker Hitch 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter item # SHK37YR is designed to replace 4" round stem couplers which is a pretty standard factory size. It works with angled and straight pin holes. It also has 4" of offset built in which is always nice for extra turning clearance.

What kind of trailer do you have and what is the diameter of the gooseneck tube? Since the Shocker is not right one for your trailer, I can recommend a standard one like item # KPG5-R25-IP to convert to a kingpin you can use your Curt A20 item # C58ZJ with.

I am not positive of the diameter. However, the trailer is a Norstar 40’ flat deck 14K GVWR.
