Will TorkLift GlowSteps Store Above Bumper On 2006 Okanagan 9.5
Updated 02/19/2026 | Published 02/13/2026 >
Question:
I am planning to purchase 4-step stairs to install my 2006 Okanagan 9.5 Camper to a 2012 GMG 3/4-ton 4-wheel drive. Question: if I mount it to the outside top of the camper bumper at 38 high, will the stairs store above the camper bumper, or hang below and behind the bumper? Second question: The camper bumper has no opening behind it, will this be an issue when mounting the steps?

Hi James; the TorkLift GlowStep Camper Scissor Steps # TLA7804 mount to a vertical surface so they would either need to be on the outside of the bumper or right under the rear door. An opening behind the bumper isn't required.
If they're on the bumper they will hang down off the rear. I would measure to see if you can store them under the door, the folded dimensions are 15" tall x 21-1/2" wide x 8-9/16" deep. I attached some pictures below so you can see how they attach and what they look like when folded.
What trips are you planning once you pick up the Okanagan?

The steps I bought were too tall, but the next size shorter were too short. I was able to fairly easily remove one step for a perfect fit. I'm retired from the car business and have worked with mechanical stuff all my life. I'm still a tinkerer. I was happily surprised at the quality of these steps and the thought that went into the design. I bought my steps late last year and haven't actually used them while camping. Once mounted I Have a ratchet strap that secures the steps to the rear porch on my Vardo. If I feel the strap wouldn't be safe, it only takes a moment to undo the pins that hold the step assembly to the bracket. For me, the steps were a solid investment. I'm happy with my purchase.
