Will The Velit Gasoline RV Heater VE46QV Keep A 32' Minnie Winnie Warm In Alaskan Winter Conditions?

Updated 02/11/2026 | Published 02/01/2026

Question:

Would this adequately warm a 32ft Minnie Winnie class c motorhome for a winter weekend with -20F to -30F cold snaps? I’m in Alaska if this helps. We normally wait for more mild temps, but you never know what you may encounter during winter camping.

Hi Ryan!

The Velit Gasoline RV Heater for Camper Van - 14,000 Btu - Bluetooth Control # VE46QV is by far the highest btu heater we have for something like this, and by quite a large margin. This is typically sufficient to heat a well-insulated 32 ft Class C Minnie Winnie under normal cold conditions. Of course, the actual performance will depend on insulation, windows/doors, outside temperature, and how warm you want the cabin. Typically, this will be perfect for the biggest sprinter vans and that sort of thing.

That said, you are going to want some form of redundancy with those temps and should not rely solely on the one heater alone. Having a 2nd heater or 2nd heat source is critical to winter travel in those temps to be prepared. Personally, if I were doing this, I would grab two of them. That's some serious cold you are potentially looking at and I would want to be as covered as possible. And that's coming from someone with a lot of Russian heritage that likes the cold.

Is this just a camping trip or is it more for a hunting/fishing trip?

We typically camp throughout all seasons of the year doing a variety of activities from summer fishing/relaxing, fall hunting, and winter snow machining/ice fishing trips. Two of them is a good idea. Do they need to be installed on separate thermostats? Or can they be wired off one controller?

@Ryan That's pretty awesome. Alaska is definitely on my bucket list. Hopefully someday! And good question. I wasn't sure so I asked Velit. They did say that they are currently configured to only use one heater per thermostat, so there isn't a way to tie two of them together at the moment. They did seem to make sure the emphasize the word "currently" when I got a response from them though, so maybe that will change in the future. It would be a good idea! Stay warm out there and just let me know if there is anything else I can help with! : )
