Hello again Michael,
You are still looking to replace the old cable on your Brophy Cable Camper Jack, 67 inch Max Lift Height, 1,500 lbs, part number # CJ74H. You will want to replace the original cable with the Replacement 3/16 inch by 113 inch Long Steel Aircraft Cable for Brophy Cable Camper Jacks, part number # BR87MJ.
I tried to find good instructions online for this process but came up empty handed. Because of that, I went out to the warehouse, grabbed a # CJ74H, and walked through the process myself so I could take some pictures and explain exactly how to do it.
You will want to start by removing the old cable. Please be very careful during this process because once the cable loosens, it can whip around unexpectedly. I also recommend wearing gloves, as frayed cable strands are sharp and can easily cut you. I started on the end of the cable that is looped around the black three hole bracket and fed it back through the pulley, making sure the cable came through between the two vertical poles. After that, I removed the drum axle nut so I could slide the drum off the jack. Once the drum was removed, I pulled out the remainder of the old cable.
With the drum off, you can begin installing the new cable. You will start on the inside of the drum, as shown in the images. Pull enough cable through hole 1 to create a loop. About 12 and a half inches worked perfectly for me. From there, route the cable through hole 2, then through hole 3, back through hole 4, and finally out through hole 5, looping it through to secure it.
From the inside of the drum, where hole 1 is marked in the image, wrap the cable under the axle. I wrapped it around three times. Once that was done, I reinstalled the drum onto the winch and secured it with the axle nut.
Next, route the cable back over the pulley and down to the black three hole bracket. You will want about four and a half inches of cable through the top hole of the bracket, then route it back through the bottom hole, then through the middle hole, exiting to the side. From there, loop it through the back to secure it.
Once everything is routed correctly, you can start cranking the jack. For the first rotation, I used my hand as a guide to help keep the cable wrapped evenly and neatly on the drum.
I really hope this helps, Michael. The only other way I can think of to be more helpful would be to fly to Albuquerque and install it for you. If you would like me to make a video walkthrough, just say the word and I will email it to you.
Please let me know if this helped you get the job done. The first time we spoke about the replacement cable was back in December of 2024, so I am hoping this finally gets you up and running.

I like the cable jacks I bought. They work great for lifting my campershell off and on my truck.
