Is it Easier to Replace Handles of RV Sewer Valves or Entire Valve

Updated 01/06/2026 | Published 01/05/2026

Question:

Hi, im a travel Nurse living in my 2015 Forrest River Flagstaff V-Lite. A tornado came through and my camper was the only unfortunate casualty sigh in the ENTIRE RV Park rolling eyes. With that being said the tree that decided to take up residence so rudely IN my camper rent free broke the Grey release valve handle. I figured now is as good a time as any to replace both. However, im questioning would it just make more sense to replace the entire waste valve wye or since its not broken leave it alone and just replace the black release and the gray release handles? Thank you hope i made sense?

Sorry to hear about the tornado Erica! If it's just the handle I would just replace those as that will be a lot easier than replacing the entire wye when I am sure you have several other issues to fix already...do you know what brand of valve you have?

If it's Lasalle Bristol for gray we have the part # 34490CMA1G and for black part # 34490CMA1.

I have a brother who did travel nursing in California and lived in an RV to take advantage of the higher wages paid out there and not have to pay for the higher cost of living. He thought he was pretty clever!
