How to Add a Firestone Air Tank to an Existing Air Bag Setup

Updated 01/07/2026 | Published 01/02/2026

Question:

I currently have Viair 98 compressor and Firestone F2525 Ride-Rite air bags on 2015 F250 and need to add tank controlled by Firestone F2225. Would this tank work? Also what control switch would you recommend to keep tank at certain pressure range?

Hey Chris. The Single Function Air Spring Control Panel item # F2225 has almost everything you need to add the Firestone Air Tank - 1 Gallon item # F9244 to your existing setup. You'll need a couple of fittings like item # F3046-1 or item # F3031-1 as well. You won't need an additional switch if you set your air system up like the diagram I attached below. The compressor will keep the air tank topped off and you'll adjust the air bags through the Control Panel item # F2225.

Why are you wanting to add an air tank to your existing setup?

Hey Jerred, thanks for the reply. My original setup was the Firestone F2525 Ride-Rite kit which included the compressor and airbags and was controlled wireless. The original compressor went bad so it was replaced with the Viair 98. The pressure switch and wireless system also went bad some time later and I wasn't able to get replacement. I bought the Firestone F2225 and the only way for it to work is with a tank and it needs a new pressure switch. Which pressure switch would you recommend?

@Chris All of our pressure switches like item # F9016 have 1/8" NPT connections. The Firestone Air Tank item # F9244 you were looking at only has 1/4" NPT ports. You'll need to jump up to a higher capacity air tank like the 3 Gallon item # F9227 to get one with a 1/8" NPT connection.
