Will Dexter Over-Under Conversion Kit Work on a 1997 Jayco 277 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 1997 Jayco 277 fifth wheel travel trailer with 3inch Dexter 5,000 lb. axles. Would the Dexter flip kit be okay to use? I need additional ground clearance in the rear of the trailer to achieve a level ride. I have already adjusted the fifth wheel in the truck to lowest possible setting while maintaining adequate bed clearance. Thanks again for your help.

You should also be able to adjust the trailer pin box up or down as needed. But if that still doesn't provide a level ride then you can use the Dexter over/under conversion kit # K71-385-00 (you would need 1 kit for each axle) as long as you are using double eye leaf springs and not slipper springs.

Please note that raising the trailer will also raise its center of gravity and could change the ride characteristics and make the trailer more susceptible to sway.
