Reducing Sway on 2003 Ram 2500 With Air Bags and Anti-Sway Bar With In-Bed Camper Towing Trailer

Question:

2003 5.9 cummins ram 2500hd 2400lb cabover with 300lb tongue weight trailer when empty. i currently have airbags and a hellwig bigwig rear sway bar on stock springs. system works great but theres a little more rocking than my wife is comfortable with. i was thinking overload springs but was hoping you can provide a solution? thanks

Hey Jim, you sure are fully loaded! At this point I think the only thing you can add would be helper/overload springs like the Hellwig Load Pro 35 Heavy Duty Helper Springs # HE34TR. These will further reduce sway and body roll, hopefully enough to make your wife happy.

It looks like most air bags for the 2003 Ram 2500 install over the axle so they won't interfere with each other. I would still double check since I'm not sure which air bags you have.

I'm also assuming you already have a weight distribution hitch since you ordered one from us in the past. If you don't, that would be a helpful addition so the trailer is more stable.

Any big trips coming up with your camper?

Hey Jim, how did things go after adding the Hellwig Load Pro 35 helper springs to your Ram? Did they help cut down the rocking enough for your wife to feel more comfortable? Your feedback could really help others hauling similar campers and trailers.
